Is EPCOT Good for Kids?
Yes — more than its reputation suggests. EPCOT has a big list of attractions with no height requirement, including Frozen Ever After, Remy's Ratatouille Adventure, The Seas with Nemo & Friends and a hands-on water trail inspired by Moana. Only four rides have a height minimum, and the tallest is 44 inches. The trade-off is walking: World Showcase is a long loop, so pace the day around breaks.

What's Different at EPCOT Right Now
- Soarin' Across America has replaced Soarin' Around the World for now. Disney's Soarin' Around the World page says that film is currently unavailable and points guests to Soarin' Across America, a limited-time film tied to the country's 250th birthday. Same ride system, same 40-inch minimum.
- Living with the Land shows as closed November 27 through December 30, 2026 on Disney's official schedule (checked October 26, 2026). It is listed as operating before and after those dates. If you visit during the holidays, plan around it.
- DuckTales World Showcase Adventure — Disney's page says it is currently under refurbishment and may be available in a limited format.
Best EPCOT Rides for Kids Under 40 Inches
Shorter kids can still fill a day at EPCOT. Start here:
- Frozen Ever After — a slow-moving boat ride through Arendelle with Anna, Elsa and Olaf. Any height. Disney notes backward and forward plunges down short waterfalls, and you may get wet, so give nervous riders a heads-up.
- Remy's Ratatouille Adventure — a ride that makes you feel shrunk down to Chef Remy's size in Gusteau's restaurant. Any height, and a great pick for Pixar fans.
- The Seas with Nemo & Friends — a slow "clamobile" ride, then a huge aquarium with sea turtles, rays and sharks. Disney also lists a free Dory scavenger hunt here.
- Turtle Talk with Crush — a live, improvised chat with Crush the sea turtle. Kids may get to ask him a question, and it's different every time.
- Journey Into Imagination with Figment — a silly ride through the five senses, which leads into ImageWorks, an indoor play space where kids can jump on musical "Stepping Tones" and conduct an orchestra by waving their arms.
- Spaceship Earth — a 16-minute seated ride inside the giant sphere, which makes it a good rest stop.
- Gran Fiesta Tour — a gentle boat ride with Donald Duck inside the Mexico pavilion.
For sensitive riders, the ride finder's calm EPCOT picks under 40 inches skips anything with big drops or spinning.
Where Can Kids Play at EPCOT?
Families often search for an EPCOT playground. The best hands-on spots on Disney's current attraction list are:
- Journey of Water Inspired by Moana — an outdoor exploration trail where kids can play with water. Any height. Disney says you can choose to get wet or take the dry path.
- ImageWorks — the indoor sensory play area after Figment.
- Kidcot Fun Stops — Disney lists Kidcot Fun Stops at EPCOT; check the My Disney Experience app for current locations.
Rides for Kids 40 to 43 Inches
At 40 inches, three rides open up:
- Test Track — a future-of-cars ride that ends with what Disney calls a high-speed race. It's about speed rather than big drops.
- Soarin' Across America — a simulated flight in front of an 80-foot dome screen, with scents and what Disney calls graceful motion.
- Mission: SPACE (Green) — the gentler orbit-of-Earth version of this simulator. It still feels intense for some kids, so try it before the Orange side.
At 42 inches, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind opens. It's a fully enclosed roller coaster whose cars rotate 360 degrees, with a reverse launch. It's the park's biggest coaster, so check your child's comfort with coasters first.
Rides for Kids 44 Inches and Up
At 44 inches, kids can add Mission: SPACE (Orange), the Mars mission, which Disney says uses a centrifuge that spins and tilts to simulate launch G-forces. Disney calls it the more intense option, and it's fine to skip.
If one child is too short or not interested, Disney's Rider Switch lets one adult wait with the child while the other adult rides, then swap without waiting in line again (see Disney's Rider Switch page for current rules).
EPCOT with Kids During the Holidays (2026)
Disney lists the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays from November 27 to December 30, 2026. Kid-friendly highlights on Disney's entertainment page include holiday storytellers in the World Showcase pavilions, Goofy as Santa at The Odyssey (daily November 27 to December 30), and Meet Santa Claus at CommuniCore Hall (Disney lists "daily through December 24"). The Candlelight Processional runs nightly at America Gardens Theatre at 4:45, 6:30 and 8:00 PM, per Disney.
Visiting before that? The EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival runs through November 21, 2026, and Disney lists Remy's Ratatouille Hide & Squeak, a find-Remy hunt around the festival. Festival entertainment is subject to change, so check the My Disney Experience app on the day.
A Simple Half-Day Plan for Kids Under 40 Inches
- Arrive near park opening and head to Frozen Ever After in Norway.
- Walk to France for Remy's Ratatouille Adventure.
- Cut back through the middle of the park to Journey of Water Inspired by Moana.
- Next door, ride The Seas with Nemo & Friends, see the aquarium and catch Turtle Talk with Crush.
- Finish with Journey Into Imagination with Figment and playtime in ImageWorks.
Kids 40" and up can add Test Track and Soarin', and 42"+ can add Guardians, ideally with Lightning Lane or at quieter times. Walking, Weather and Safety Tips
EPCOT involves a lot of walking, and Orlando can stay warm into fall. Plan shade and water breaks, bring refillable bottles, and use indoor rides like Spaceship Earth and The Seas to cool off. If a child shows signs of heat illness, get help from park First Aid or a doctor — Disney lists First Aid in every Walt Disney World theme park.
