Quick Answer: Which Character Meal Should You Book?
- Princess fans: Cinderella's Royal Table inside the castle, or Akershus Royal Banquet Hall in EPCOT for a lower breakfast price tier.
- Mickey Mouse at a resort, no park ticket listed: Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary Resort.
- Winnie the Pooh fans on a Magic Kingdom day: The Crystal Palace.
- Stitch fans: the breakfast at ʻOhana (breakfast only, characters do not appear at dinner).

How Character Dining Works
Characters come to your table during the meal for photos and autographs, so you skip a separate meet-and-greet line. Meals are served one of three ways: buffet (Chef Mickey's, Crystal Palace, Tusker House, Hollywood & Vine, 1900 Park Fare, Cape May Cafe), family-style platters (Garden Grill, Akershus, ʻOhana breakfast), or a set prix-fixe menu (Cinderella's Royal Table, Topolino's Terrace breakfast). Story Book Dining at Artist Point serves plated entrées with shared starters and desserts.
Disney's pages note that character appearances are subject to change, so treat any lineup as likely, not guaranteed.
What Does Disney Character Dining Cost?
Disney does not publish exact prices on its restaurant pages. It shows a price tier: $$$ is $35 to $59.99 per adult and $$$$ is over $60 per adult. For character meals, the tier covers the whole meal and non-alcoholic drinks, before tax and tip. Here is what each page showed on October 26, 2026:
- $$$ breakfast, $$$$ lunch and dinner: Garden Grill, Akershus, Crystal Palace, Hollywood & Vine, Tusker House
- $$$ breakfast, $$$$ dinner: Chef Mickey's
- $$$ breakfast (characters at breakfast only): ʻOhana, Topolino's Terrace, Cape May Cafe
- $$$$ at every meal: Cinderella's Royal Table, 1900 Park Fare, Story Book Dining at Artist Point (dinner only)
The pattern is simple: breakfast is the cheapest way to do a character meal at most of these restaurants.
Best Picks by Kid Age
These picks go by the meal format and the characters Disney lists, not by any secret ranking.
Toddlers and preschoolers
Buffets and family-style meals let you start eating right away, which helps with little kids who can't wait for a plated course. Familiar faces help too:
- The Crystal Palace: a buffet with Winnie the Pooh (Disney's page doesn't name other characters). Disney suggests planning about 90 minutes to see all the characters.
- Chef Mickey's: a buffet with Mickey Mouse (the only character Disney's page names). Each table gets an autographed keepsake card.
- ʻOhana breakfast: family-style breakfast with Lilo and Stitch. Disney's menu lists Stitch and Mickey waffles.
For more on very young kids, see our Disney World with a baby or toddler guide.
Ages 4 to 7 (peak princess and Mickey years)
- Cinderella's Royal Table: Cinderella greets you in the castle's Grand Hall, and Disney Princesses visit your table. Disney says kids are encouraged to dress up.
- Akershus Royal Banquet Hall: family-style Princess Storybook Dining in the Norway pavilion. Disney doesn't list which princesses appear.
- 1900 Park Fare: a buffet where Aladdin, Cinderella, Mirabel, and Tiana may appear.
Older kids
Older kids often care more about the food and setting. Story Book Dining at Artist Point is a dinner with Snow White, Dopey, and Grumpy, and Topolino's Terrace is a prix-fixe rooftop breakfast where Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Daisy wear outfits made for the restaurant.
Best Picks by Park Day
Book the meal on the day you're already in that park, so you don't lose ride time crossing the resort.
- Magic Kingdom: Cinderella's Royal Table or The Crystal Palace. Check what your kids can ride with the Magic Kingdom rides under 40 inches filter, or read Magic Kingdom with kids.
- EPCOT: Garden Grill (Chip, Dale, and Mickey Mouse, in a slowly rotating dining room) or Akershus. See EPCOT with kids.
- Hollywood Studios: Hollywood & Vine, Minnie's Seasonal Dining with outfits and themes that change through the year. Park overview: Hollywood Studios.
- Animal Kingdom: Tusker House, where Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse come by in safari outfits. Park overview: Animal Kingdom.

Character Dining Outside the Parks
Several of the most popular character meals are at Disney resort hotels, not inside a park. Disney's pages for these resort meals don't list a park admission requirement, while in-park restaurants like Cinderella's Royal Table say valid admission is required.
- Chef Mickey's (Contemporary Resort): breakfast and dinner
- 1900 Park Fare (Grand Floridian): breakfast and dinner. Disney notes renovation work at the resort through early 2027.
- ʻOhana (Polynesian Village): characters at breakfast only
- Topolino's Terrace (Riviera Resort): characters at breakfast only
- Cape May Cafe (Beach Club Resort): Minnie's Beach Bash Breakfast; no characters at dinner
- Story Book Dining at Artist Point (Wilderness Lodge): dinner only
A non-park day with a resort character breakfast is an easy way to give kids character time without buying another park day.
How to Book Disney Character Dining
- When: Disney dining reservations open 60 days ahead at 6:00 AM Eastern (planDisney, Oct 13, 2026).
- Disney hotel guests can book their whole stay, up to 10 days, at the 60-day mark. Everyone else books one day at a time.
- No hotel or tickets needed to book, per the same planDisney answer. You still need park admission on the day for in-park restaurants.
- Cancellation: restaurants charge a per-person fee if you don't cancel in time. At Cinderella's Royal Table you pay in full when you book, you can't modify the reservation, and you must cancel at least 2 hours ahead or the full price is charged.
If you're still sorting out tickets, compare options on our ticket deals page before your 60-day window opens.
